iefis explorer issues

Post by Diamond »

Hello,
I am having a number of issues with my iefis explorer. After an exchange because I had moisture behind the screen after a flight, the second device still has the same problem but especially now some indicators give outlandish information. (g factor, oil pressure, oil and coolant temp etc.) I don’t think it’s a rdac issue because slip indicator and attide indicator went crazy also.
Any ideas?

I had a not too dissimilar problem with ridiculous high oil pressure which in the end was a capacitance fuel sensor shorting internally when the tank was full. Somehow it was causing an effect on the RDAC box. So I would disconnect all your sensors connected to the RDAC in turn. If disconnecting one of the sensors restores normality then you know the cause of the problem. Having an extremely high oil pressure is somewhat of a concern and I wasted a huge amount of time rigging up a traditional non electronic gauge to find the problem was RDAC getting screwed with one sensor faulty.

I quote from Rainier’s response “ OK then that sender must be injecting a lot of current into the input and exceeding its allowed voltage range - that would cause everything to read wrong !

Glad the mystery is solved !
