Micro SD card not latching in Challenger EFIS

Post by mherweyer@gmail.com »

Hi All,

Anyone else have an issue where they ejected the Micro SD card and went to re-insert it and it doesn't latch?

I've tried the card in other devices and it latches fine, as well as trying a different card and it also fails to latch in the EFIS.

More importantly if anyone has come across this issue, how did you resolve it?!

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,
I had the same problem with my Challenger and actually thought the card holder in the efis was defective. It may sound strange but I changed to a higher quality micro sd card and that fixed my issue. Other than occasionally missing the slot completely when I insert the card I have not had any further issues with the card latching...
Good luck,

Glenn Davis

Thanks for the idea Glenn. It is the same card that I had been using, but I will give it a try again with a better quality card.

Thanks JimJab,

I looked up the post, and once the unit is out of warranty and if it breaks again, I will go that way.

Mine was a broken retention clip and it was fixed with a new micro SD reader under warranty. Not thrilled with the micro SD approach, but understand the form factor consideration.

May look to putting an internal to external converter in play so that I can avoid this issue in the future, as mechanical things break. But that has tradeoffs as well...

Now since we are looking to the future... how about a wireless (bluetooth or Wifi) sync to a device for data transfer?

Just a thought...

Mike
