TRIG TT21 TT22 with SP12 or TN72

Post by Edwin »

Hi (probably a question for Rainier),
I understand the TRIG TT22 with SP12 on the same CAN bus and iEFIS as control is compliant to a SIL/SDA of 3/2 and TABS TSO-C199 for a Class-B device. Which meets 14 CFR §91.227c, AC 20-165B, Appendix B requirements. Which is great.
My setup is slightly different: a TN72 GPS with SIL/SDA 3/2 into a serial port of the iEFIS, and the iEFIS controls the TT22. I can set the TN72 as primary GPS source for the iEFIS, but does the iEFIS maintain the same compliancy as above in that case?
If it doesn't I'd need to purchase either a SP12 (and try get that combination on the CAA list in NZ) or a TRIG control head and bypass the iEFIS completely (which I'd rather not do as I don't have the panel space).
Thanks very much

Unfortunately the answer is "no". The EFIS does not qualify as a wired connection.
The connection has to be directly from the approved device to the transponder. Only actual required electrical interface components are permitted.
