Dual GPS Antenna

Post by jwaldrip »

Hi

I'm installing (trying to install) a new panel. I have the MGL Challenger with Ibox. The Ibox came with a GPS antenna. I also have the Uavionix I also have the uAvionix skyFYX WAAS GPS. Do I need both of these? I'm thinking only the Uavionix one.

Your iBOX has a WAAS GPS as well. You should install both antennas but keep some distance between them. Active antennas like these can interfere with each other.
The iBOX GPS is used in many ways by the system to a level not possible with the uAvionics system. For example it is used for precise 3D measurements of your aircraft's flight path at a high rate for use by the internal autopilot. This is not possible if you use an external GPS.
