Extreme G3 with RDAC Oiltemp issue

Post by Thomas Z602 »

Hi all

I've just mounted the Extreme with the RDAC XF. Newest firmware version. Everything (CHTs, Oil pressure, Fuel Pressure, Rpm, Fuel levels, etc. works perfect.
But I have an issue with the oil temperature. I am using a LM335 sensor type from MGL. As soon as the temperature reaches about 85 degress the display jumps to 250 degrees in a few seconds. Obviously this is not correct and as soon as I "cool" the engine the temperature jumps back below 85 degrees.
I assumed it was a defect sensor so I built a new one and testet it on the workbench. It was completely linear up to 125 degrees with heating and voltmeter.
But this sensor gives exactly the same problem in the plane. So now I have connected the sensor to the aux1 input instead, and now it is working flawless

So either is the Extreme or the RDAC defect. Or there could be a software issue in the extreme. Can anyone confirm they have LM335 oil temperature at the oil temperature connection on the RDAC working correct.

Best regards

Thomas
