Major V16/A16 update
Posted: Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:15 pm
I have uploaded a major update affecting the V16 transceiver, A14/A16 Intercom and the Razor V16.
V16 transceiver and A14/A16 Intercom
The intercom can now be connected to one or two transceivers using a digital audio and PTT link. This is done using the RS232 Port 2 on both devices which up to now had no assigned function.
The link also controls the PTT on the transceiver(s).
As a consequence, there is no more audio wiring or PTT wiring between intercom and transceiver. This dramatically simplifies installation and wiring while at the same time all but eliminates any form of interference on this link including effects such as RF feedback. Audio quality is also very good in both directions (receive and transmit). One intercom can be connected to two V16 transceivers as COM1 and COM2 this way.

Both V16 and A14/A16 require a firmware update to enable this function and there is also a manual on the feature downloadable on the same page.
Razor V16
Independent of the above the Razor V16 firmware has been updated. This update includes the complete functionality of the Razor A16. You can switch the Razor into either V16/N16 or A16 mode at any time using one of two methods.
In A16 mode it behaves exactly as a Razor A16. In V16 mode it behaves as a Razor V16 but will still show the bluetooth phone popup for incoming calls.
This update can be applied for both Razor V16 as well as Razor A16 (which then gains V16 control ability).

Note: If you are using a Windows 64 bit platform to update the Razor, V16 or A16 - please ensure that your USB to RS232 converter has been installed with 64 bit drivers - 32 bit drivers will not work in a 64 bit system.
