Firmware update of Razor head

For the last few days I have been trying to update the firmware on my Razor head without success. I am using a USB to serial adapter and with the same adapter successfully updated my N16 and V16 first time.

I have checked and doubled checked the wiring and even tested with a continuity tester to ensure all the wires are connected properly to the relevant pins.

The COM port is correct and after I select the update menu item, I turn the head on and it just boots up as normal.

I used Putty to create a terminal session at 9600 BAUD and when I turn the head on, the word 'Ok' comes up on the screen. But no matter what I do, I cannot get it to start updating. The update program just sits there saying now switch on. The update button never becomes enabled and is just greyed out.

I am using RS232 port 1 but also tried port 2 on the Razor just in case. The same USB cable updated the N16 and V16 on the first attempt using the same method.

The wiring is as follows of the 9 pin USB serial cable to the 15 pin Razor head:

Razor pin 1 - 12v
Razor pin 2 - GND
Serial pin 5 to Razor pin 2 (RS232 GND)
Serial pin 3 (TX) - Razor pin 3 (RX)
Serial pin 2 (RX) - Razor pin 4 (TX)

The procedure I am using is turning the Razor on and then running the MGL Razor Update program. First I go in to setup and ensure the COM port is correct (COM6 in my case, checked using Device Manager). Then I turn the Razor off and select the update menu item. Then I turn the Razor on. All that happens is the Razor boots almost immediately to it's normal screen. The Razor has never been updated and comes with it's delivery firmware which I believe says 2018.

What am I doing wrong?

Regards
Steve

If you see the OK on start it means you are seeing the Razor TX on your RX.
The update program sends a response to this "PROG" and in turn it will get a message back to say the Razor is now in programming mode.
This is not happening so that means the TX from your PC is not arriving at the RX of the Razor.
