I will start with the issue at hand. Trying to adjust radio(V6) with the Bose Headset in open cockpit. The aircraft is a Ranger AR-1 with Rotax912. The issue is once in flight the rear headset constant stays in Mic Open due to wind noise. The front headset seems ok when I get the pilot to make sure the mouthpiece is closer to his mouth. Getting rid of the open mic and subsequent noise would help test out the front com in flight. The owner has told me that he hasn't(him personally) made any changes to the default settings but after reviewing the settings I know that someone has helped in setting up. Regardless, after reading the manual, I was really expecting to find the mic gain set to the default setting but that was not the case. From memory, here are the settings
VOX 6
Mic Gain -7.50db
Squelch - 8 0r 9
tx Mic - HOT (pretty sure but not positive)
PTT Config - don't remember
Mic Levels - 4 (Maybe but not sure here) -
Pilot Isolate - 2+2 I think...
I did play around with the VOX 7 and changed to VOGAD low/med/high just get a better understanding of the settings but put back to VOX 6. Since I am not the PIC in the front seat, I don't what change something may affect the radio transmit and not be able to correct on the fly.
Side note - monitoring the radio transmission from the ground, the radio sounds over modulated but thought I would attack the COM settings first.
So I am looking for some advice on how to approach the problem. Thanks in advance.
