RPM-2 warning wire

The RPM-2 instructions state the alarm wire is an “open collector switch to ground”. Does this mean the light I attach should have a separate power source and the RPM-2 provides the ground when activated or does the RPM-2 provide the power to the light?

Connect the lamp to an external supply and the RPM-2 will provide the ground when in alarm.
