I have the ground wire in the DB9 connector on my RDAC XF hooked up to engine ground as per the instruction. Do I need to hook up the ground connection on the terminal of the RDAC to engine ground as well?

No. Those terminals are there for convenience if you need a matching ground point for a sender.
