Adam O'Connor of Michigan Avionics was kind enough to provide the following in direct response to my question:
The source of ground for the switch does not matter. The other side of the switch must go to the "Ax" input pin. The "G" pins exist as a ground reference in case there isn't an easy way to grab one elsewhere
The trouble is, I am using two Tosten CS-8 sticks on which the 'Trigger' PTT switch shares its common line with three other buttons that I need to use to activate other pre-programmed functions (including Flip Flop). If I ground these switches differently then PTT has two different routes to ground and I may have created a big screamin' ground loop. I see three options:
  • Go ahead because no ground loop will be generated merely by connecting the tip and shield of the MIC circuit.
  • Ground the common line for all 4 buttons on the Microphone Ground pin (pin 11) of my V6 radio.
  • Ground the common line on V6 Microphone Ground pin 11 AND ALSO on the corresponding "G" pins of their digital inputs on the Analog/Digital Inputs connector of the iBox.
Anybody got any reasoned preferences or other suggestions?
