EFIS Radio touchscreen not flipping freqs.

Post by tigerpilot43 »

MGL Guys,
Since my last inquiry I made the necessary RS232 connections to the iBox to rid the screen of the red "X" over the radio touchscreen pad. I then allocated serial port "3" for com 1. The Razor that I have will flip freqs on the Razor head and EFIS screen (They are slaved, right?), but when I tap the EFIS screen to flip freqs they remain the same at both Razor and EFIS.
Another interesting anomaly is that I have no Nav radio yet the EFIS is displaying the Nav touchscreen pad without a gray X or a red X. I haven't bothered to fiddle with the Nav radio pad as I don't want to open a can of worms. Just "funny".
Lastly, I haven't been able to locate on the EFIS an OAT reading. Am I looking too hard?

You always have a NAV radio - if not a real one then you have the simulated one (GVOR and GLS). That is why it is never crossed out.
If you can see the radio on your EFIS screen (i.e. changing frequencies etc) but you cannot change anything from the EFIS it simply means that the RS232 TX line from your EFIS chosen port never arrives at the corresponding RX port on your radio.

The Razor connects to the V16 via CAN bus and the EFIS connects to the V16 via RS232. These are separate communications interfaces.
