Autopilot autothrottle setup

Post by rwm1273 »

Can the Autopilot be set up to control an autothrottle? Can the iefis be used to control the start-up and shutdown of an electronically controlled engine ECU? I'm looking at using an iefis unit with a Hirth 35HF diesel.

The system has been designed with "5 axis" control in mind but it has not been released to the public in this form owing to legal issues.
The same reason we do not provide a throttle or other engine control for a constant speed prop for example.
It's too risky from a legal point of view. Sorry.

So because the system is open, it is possible for an individual to set this option up? Or would this be something to work with you directly? I'm actually interested in using the system with a twin-engine installation, and because the engine choice will be a fadec, it would be nice to be able to add this functionality to the autopilot. The engines will be equipped with full feathering constant speed electrically controlled props.
