Re: iEFIS Discovery Lite temporarily unavailable

OK regarding Video:

Traditionally with our systems Video support for PAL/NTSC video sources is available with iBOX systems.
With the G4 it is the same however...

Native G4 systems (i.e. systems designed from the ground up to support only the G4 CPU card - like the MX2) also have a USB 2.0 host port at the back. This port is capable of the full 480MBits/second data rate.
This port is intended to be connected to a self-powered hub - in other words a hub (usually 4 ports) that has its own power supply.

Currently the USB framework of the G4 already supports USB thumb drives, USB mice, joysticks, trackballs, and keyboards - although the EFIS software itself does not currently use this - but likely will soon - I did not implement anything in the EFIS firmware as I did not want to create additional delays.
Also included in the Linux kernel is the video support via USB but I have not yet attempted to get it to work - I implemented the "Video for Linux" driver framework which supports a fair number of video cameras out of the box.

So the idea is that all native G4 systems support video via USB (that includes the lites) but video on traditional PAL/NTSC inputs is only available for systems connecting to an iBOX.

The G4 systems also support SECAM in addition to PAL and NTSC.
