Issue resolved.
I now have a properly working Garmin.
I attached a new garmin gps puck, which appears to have sorted the problem.
I also did a fair bit of wire rerouting in the process, but I’m pretty sure that the puck was the issue.

Screen emitting GPS interference
I have a challenger lite as PFD and a Garmin 795 with GDL50 as backup on right side. Vans RV7. I can switch autopilot sources betwen MGL and garmin.

Capacity and format of SD card. ??
I recently couldn't get my challenger lite to read a large capacity SD card, with some windows format that i had never come across. ( Could be exfat ? )
However a 16Gb card with FAT32 worked fine.
