The great thing amount MGL stuff is the simple the interface and how low the current consumption is. Almost the whole interface is with D sub connections. 20 gauge is the maximum and the practical minimum is 24 gauge. It’s easier to work with bigger wires and usually looks better.

Re: Explorer Lite artificial horizon wandering
My Explorer Lite AH does something similar. I sent it for service and it did work better for a while but just doesn’t work right. I calibrate it but it has a large pitch error that I can’t completely zero out that seems to cross couple when banked.

Re: HUD
I have it working in my RV8 with an Explorer Lite iEFIS circa 2022. Works like advertised. You have to enable flight mode to transmit the black box data to the serial port. Really fun. Fantastic value for giggles per dollar. It’s also an easy way to let a back seat pilot see flight data.

Explorer iEFIS lite backup bat
My iEFIS lite has been having issues on startup, losing the Hobbs time and other settings. It seems to be getting worse. I removed the back cover and the solder in battery is obviously failed. I’d rather not send it for repair and have the capability to change it.

Lite Systems Diagnostic Menu
I found a new diagnostics menu on my Explorer Lite for Lite systems. There is a prompt to refer to documentation.
How do I find that?

Re: iEFIS Lite Audio out noise
The iEFIS lite audio out produces a signal that is too high to be connected directly to the V16 aux audio in. A 10:1 resistive divider was recommended by MGL. By adding the network shown below and adjusting to aux audio level on the V16 I was able to get a reasonable audio quality and reduce that ...

Re: EFIS Challenger Lite - Audio signal
I used the 10:1 resistive divider recommended by MGL and described by LaneRM and adjusted the V16 aux input level to get a good comprise. The audio is still slightly distorted but good enough.

Re: Black Box Viewer Data Recording Issues
I loaded the data viewer on a new windows 11 computer and it works fine. I find this to be a very good tool. The FWF RDAC allows easy connection of additional thermocouples in the engine compartment for troubleshooting that get logged without modifying your iEFIS screens.

Re: V16 upgrade with iEFIS
Thanks for the scoop. Good luck. I guess I don’t have that problem. I have used a couple of SD cards in my gen 3 iEFIS and they worked with the FAT32 format out of the box.
