Does anyone have experience with connecting a SIM4 P lead to an MGL instrument, or know details of that signal ?
Surefly offer a converter to give a 0-5V output signal, but if my customer would like to avoid that if possible.

Re: RDAC Sensors Stopped Working on EFIS
Yep, vibration is a killer, specially on unsupported cables. I have also had 2 instances where the SMA antenna connector on a V16 has undone itself due to vibration. I am wary of overtightening them in case it puts excessive strain on the pcb solder joints, so now use sealant to prevent the plug nut...

Re: V16- loose capacitor
Further to this- the replacement radio has suffered the same issue. Mounted inverted, the cap has dislodged off the pcb due to vibration. Probably not helped in that the cap body is very close to the pcb edge and can possibly touch the lip of the mounting slot in the extrusion. Moral of the story- d...

Re: EMS-2 and rpm errors on Hirth F-23
From input to ground.Would the 220omh resistor be run in series to the EMs-2 on the blue wire or branch off to ground to reduce the noise?
Have you got the EMS-2 manual? Download from http://www.mglavionics.co.za/Infinitec/ ... 0EMS-2.pdf

Re: EMS-2 and rpm errors on Hirth F-23
Have a look at section 10.3 of the EMS-2 manual. Sounds like you will need to put that 220ohm resistor on the RPM signal line to load down the input signal, and then tweak the sensitivity to get the RPM indication just triggering at idle but not firing on noise at WOT. There is also the option of se...

mini RDAC update
I have updated the miniRDAC firmware to be compatible with both iEFIS normal and Lite versions. This means it will work with all MGL instruments from the Vega and Blaze singles througth XTremes to the full-blown iEFIS. But given the reduced inputs available and coarser resolution it is intended for ...

Re: RPM jumps at high power
Don't believe that 4.5" long dimension.
The sensor fits in an inspection hole in the side of the magneto body, and will stick out about 1" max including the wiring bend.

Re: RPM jumps at high power
I have struck a couple of installs with this problem- some you can fix by tweaking the sensitivity, but I have found the quickest, simplest, most reiable solution is to fit a UMA rotation sensor to the mag body. Aircraft Spruce sell them (10-02432, 10-02433). Rock solid across the rev range.
