On my first flight yesterday the ATC controller reported my transmission as "garbled." I currently have my microphone gain set at -12dB.

What setting should I use for microphone gain using Bose Aviation A10 ...

Try significantly reducing the mic gains on both P1/P2. -12dB might be a good starting point.
