Re: SP12 / MX1 GPS issue
Just a bit of further information on this issue. The SP-12 contains NexNav Micro-I GPS module which is a FAA approved device (it is used in practically all of the approved or certified GPS receivers compliant to TSO-C199 class B). This device transmits GPS altitude relative to the ellipsoid which is...

Re: A16 Generating RF Noise
There has not been an update to the A16 since release - same hardware. Yes 123Mhz is a bit too high for the switch mode power supplies - not impossible but we on purpose use quite ancient switch mode chips - the L5973 which is a low frequency chip and quite bullet proof. I can't tie 123Mhz to anythi...

Re: A16 Generating RF Noise
Here is another one - this time concentrating around 123Mhz with narrow bandwidth and a 100Khz span. This gets us down to -100dbm from the antenna. There is no visible emission from the A16. As test to verify the setup I took the picture below - here my Adret super accurate and high quality signal g...

Re: A16 Generating RF Noise
Not sure where that comes from - there is no signal source in the A16 at the frequency or anything lower that would create a harmonic at that frequency. The images below show a A16 taken out of its housing (so no shielding at all) with just power connected. You can see the typical wideband antenna u...

Re: Manifold pressure
Yes you can do that but you need to create your own custom display for the MAP. You need to know the voltage range of your sender and the pressure it represents. Connect to one of the analog channels on your extender. Place an indicator component on you desired location (whatever you prefer) and con...

Re: Spam attacks on this forum
Once in a while I have to clear out inactive users - these are users that have registered but never posted. An average of around 1000 or so register per month but these are nearly all fakes done by bots. I cannot distinguish these from real users so I delete all of them. Should you have registered i...

Re: T16 Transponder
After some more tweaking the transmitter is now sending out around 270W-280W of power with a clean signal compliant with FCC. The various certification tests as described in DO-181 are very laborious and require very expensive kit. Some are quite arcane - the method they propose to measure the carri...

Re: V6 remote frequency Set
If it's one of our EFIS systems select the MGL radio in your serial port routing and setup menu and if it is an iEFIS also enable COM1 in the equipment enables setup menu. If you need to select the SL40 protocol you can do that from the same menu. SL30 is NAVCOM. But it will work for COM as well. No...

Re: iEFIS Discovery Lite temporarily unavailable
The G4 boards have arrived and testing of the batch has been completed. All well and looking good. Kit for the Discovery replacement should be ready within days. As this differs hugely from the Discovery Lite (except for size) it's probably better to give it a new name - there are similarities with ...
