Autopilot Disconnect for MX2?

Post by aelliott »

With earlier generation of "lite" systems, you needed an extender in order to set up an autopilot disconnect button. Does the newer G4 MX2 allow for an autopilot disconnect button without an extender? Is there a workaround if so?
Thanks,

You will still need the extender for this as you require additional inputs that can monitor the state of a button.

However - the correct way to install the system would be to have a panel switch that provides power to the servos - if you switch power to the servos off at any time the autopilot disengages immediately.

A little "nonstandard" to not have an autopilot disconnect on the stick, but clearly that can be made to work with a latching relay if I decide not to use the extender. Thanks,

Simply use a latching push button. One click to power servos and a second to remove power.

Or if you want something standard use a momentary disconnected (push button normally closed).

Make sure the wire you choose can shunt 1 amp per servo without dropping any noticeable voltage as this can reduce available torque at the servo.
